The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program awards up to 161 high school seniors each year based on their achievements in one of three categories: general, arts, and career and technical education (CTE).
General scholars need high SAT or ACT scores. Arts scholars need to take part in the YoungArts program and demonstrate talent in the arts. CTE scholars need a nomination from their Chief State School officer and demonstrate achievements in career or technical programs. Unlike most other scholarships, this program’s award isn’t monetary. Instead, winners get a free trip to Washington, D.C., where they’re awarded a medallion in an official ceremony.
