The Hertz Foundation was founded more than 60 years ago. John Hertz arrived in the US as a poor immigrant and worked his way to success. In his later years, he donated his fortune to establish a scholarship fund for engineers. In 1963, the Hertz Foundation began offering fellowships to students in the US who committed to making their skills available during national emergencies.
Recipients receive up to 5 years of funding for their education plus a stipend that caps at $250,000.
