The GCSAA Legacy Awards competition offers a $1,500 education aid to the children and grandchildren of GCSAA members. The student must be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time at an accredited institution of higher learning. If the applicant is currently serving or has served in any branch of the military, they are eligible if they are enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours every 9 weeks at an accredited institution of higher learning, technical school, or online program. The student must submit an essay. Applicants will be evaluated based on academic achievement, extracurricular and community involvement, leadership, and outside employment.

Some scholarship organizations email all the applicants to let them know if they were selected or not, while others only contact the winners—it usually depends on the number of applicants. It never hurts to follow up.

Yes! But make sure to read each scholarship application's essay guidelines and requirements, and personalize your essay to each scholarship you apply to. Using the same essay for multiple applications can be a time-saver, but changing just a sentence or two can make a difference!
To have a copy of your official transcript submitted for a scholarship application, you'll need to contact the registrar's office and ask that they send your transcript to the address you provide. Tip: Make sure to do this far in advance!
For a college transcript, you can also contact the registrar's office, or, you can submit a request through your college portal. FYI: Colleges often charge a fee for this.
