The L. Ron Hubbard Writers Of The Future Contest Award is offered to an amateur writer with no more than three stories published in professional media. The Contest is for science fiction and fantasy stories of up to 17,000 words in length for new and amateur writers. Prizes of $1000, $750, and $500 are awarded every three months.

If you haven't heard back within a few weeks, reach out to the scholarship organization! Some scholarship organizations email all the applicants to let them know if they were selected or not, while others only contact the winners—it usually depends on the number of applicants. It never hurts to follow up.
